About the artist
Sarah Cassidy
Sarah Cassidy is a self-taught artist who has explored painting natural subjects for over 10 years. Her intense concentration on the surface of water, molecular particles floating through the air, and the intricacies of tree cross sections fascinate her and always provide an opportunity to go deeper.
Through each painting, Cassidy explores her relationship with the natural environment and what its reflections and patterns—physical and metaphorical—have to teach us about our own minds.
Her work is titled chronologically. Each work she creates of a given subject receives a title with that exploration. Water 62 is the 62nd painting she has created on the subject of water. Through this chronology, the evolution through practice can be observed.
Sarah is based in Brooklyn, NY and works out of Brooklyn Art Cluster in Gowanus.
