The surface of the sea
Sarah Cassidy has explored painting the surface of water for over 10 years. Each painting is titled chronologically. Water 62 is the 62nd painting she has created on the subject of water. Through this chronology, the evolution through practice can be observed. Water is a symbol of the unconscious and has the ability to recall vivid memories of place. Through each painting, Cassidy explores her relationship with water and what its reflections—physical and metaphorical—have to teach us about our own perspective and perceptions.
